Reading - whoever practices it knows - improves our concentration, memory and ability to think creatively. It stimulates our senses, teaches, develops and contributes to better communication with people. So it's worthwhile to regularly indulge in reading and, sitting comfortably in our own armchair, venture out into unknown places and stories that fascinate us.
Bibliophiles will certainly appreciate a corner at home dedicated to their passion. A separate area for collecting collections and reading, it should be cozy, but at the same time give the opportunity to focus attention. This is a place to relax and unwind in no small company. It does not require a lot of space, nor will it be too expensive, but we must take care of comfort, functionality and appropriate aesthetics here. It is worth the effort, because this place is primarily intended to be an oasis of calm, helping us to get away from the chaos of everyday life.

Where to locate a reading corner?
We can arrange a reading corner in any part of our apartment. It would be good if it were a quiet place, separated from the daily hustle and bustle - intimate in a way. If it is a fragment of a large room, we can separate its space with a carpet or a different color of the walls. Often separate volumes are adapted to create a mini-reading room - architectural niches, large stair treads or intimate attics. If we have such an opportunity, let's plan this place near the fireplace. He will certainly contribute to the level of relaxation during reading, especially in late autumn and winter, adding to our solitude coziness.

A bookcase practical and elegant
A well-equipped and aesthetically displayed bookcase is a source of pride for any book enthusiast. However, they have their own weight, so the shelves under them, must be solid and stable. Of course, the furniture should be selected in style to match the entire arrangement. In an industrial climate, metal shelves will fit perfectly, while in interiors in English, rustic or Provencal style, wooden bookcases of matching color will work well. If the room and the bookcases are so high that it is difficult to remove the books from the highest shelves, it is worth considering the installation of a sliding ladder on a rail.
It would also be important to protect at least some of the books from dust, for example, by placing them in a piece of furniture with glass, which at the same time will provide an easy view of the entire collection.
We can put single copies on an additional shelf, which can be completely original in form. Interesting solutions, for example, are hanging or rotating shelves.
A bookcase with a seating area
Comfortable seating for a reading adventure
What will make us eager to return to this place is (besides the curiosity-inducing fate of the characters) a comfortable seat. It can be a comfortable armchair, a mattress laid on a wide windowsill, or a hammock, a string net, or a sako bag that adjusts to the shape of the body.
Because of the sitting position we usually adopt when indulging in this form of relaxation, it would be healthiest to invest in a well-padded armchair with supports. The seat should be soft and pleasant to the touch, but also made of natural material. The subdued design and color scheme should not be distracting.
The ideal complement to the seat is a footrest, which will further increase our comfort level. Modern armchairs will have this element built in. It will come with adjustable bolsters and sometimes even a massage function.
Suitable lighting for reading
Proper lighting is very important. Whether it is a standing or hanging lamp, it would be good if it had an adjustable height. The light should be appropriately subdued - strong enough to provide good visibility, but soft enough not to strain the eyesight. Also very important is the color of the light, which should be as close to daylight or warmer as possible. A cozy atmosphere will be created by spot lighting, but then it is worth placing an additional light point, giving soft light, diffused in the background.

Furnishing a reading corner...
A practical addition in the reader's corner will be a small table, on which we will put down the book we are reading, glasses or put a cup with an aromatic coffee accompanying us. Let's remember to place such a table with low seats, which will be proportionally adjusted in height - lower rather than too high. An alternative can also be mini dressers, in which we can additionally hide less useful, distracting objects.
In arranging a home reading room, it is worth letting your interior fantasy run wild. Fans of specific literary genres can therefore choose thematic accessories and decorations in the form of, for example, posters, graphics or paintings. However, they should not be too distracting. After all, remember that it is the actual reading that will provide the greatest attraction.
